Lt. Governor David Wasinger Congratulates Darana Hybrid on Winning the Lt. Governor’s Cup at Lake of the Ozarks Shootout

Osage Beach, MO – Lieutenant Governor David Wasinger congratulated Darana Hybrid on capturing the Lt. Governor’s Cup at the 37th Annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout this past weekend. For the first time since the early 1990s, the Lt. Governor’s Cup was awarded to the Top Gun—the fastest overall boat in the Shootout. Darana Hybrid’s 50-foot Mystic, formerly known as the Spirit of Qatar and owned by Darryl Cuttell of the International Hot Rod Association, achieved a blistering top speed of 242 mph to earn Top Gun honors and set a new course record.

The weekend also marked a special milestone as Lt. Governor Wasinger joined boating legend Randy Scism of Marine Technology Inc. (MTI) for the inaugural run on the new ¾-mile course. Reaching 125 mph on radar, their run officially opened the event.

“The Lake of the Ozarks Shootout is one of Missouri’s premier events, showcasing both world-class competition and the unmatched hospitality of the Lake,” Wasinger said. “Reviving the tradition of awarding the Lt. Governor’s Cup to the fastest boat honors the Shootout’s history while celebrating its bright future. Darana Hybrid’s incredible performance was the perfect way to mark this occasion.”

Wasinger also praised the organizers and volunteers: “I want to thank Leah Martin, her team, and the hundreds of volunteers who make the Shootout possible. This event is about so much more than racing—it raises money for local charities and brings together the Lake community with the global powerboating family. Their dedication is what makes this tradition truly special.”

Once again, the Shootout drew visitors from across the country and around the world, raising significant funds for local charities and cementing its reputation as one of Missouri’s signature summer traditions.
