Lieutenant Governor Wasinger Applauds Boeing Awarded Next Generation Air Dominance Contract
“The most advanced, most capable, most lethal aircraft ever built.”
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Lieutenant Governor David Wasinger today praised the selection of Boeing for the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) contract, awarding the company the development of the F-47, the world’s first 6th-generation fighter jet that will define the future of air combat. The initial $20 billion contract ensures Missouri remains a leader in aerospace innovation and national defense.
“This is a historic milestone for Missouri’s workforce and our national security,” said Lt. Governor Wasinger. “With this contract, Boeing will lead the development of the most advanced fighter jet ever built, right here in our state. Missouri’s aerospace industry is second to none, and this investment secures our role in ensuring American air superiority for generations to come.”
The F-47 fighter jet, designed to replace the F-22 Raptor, will be the backbone of America’s future air power, integrating autonomous drone capabilities and cutting-edge stealth technology to outmatch threats from China, Russia, and beyond. The Pentagon confirmed that an experimental version of the aircraft has already been secretly flying for nearly five years.
“The F-47 will be the most advanced, most capable, most lethal aircraft ever built,” President Trump told reporters. “America’s enemies will never see it coming,” he later added.
“This isn’t just an investment in advanced military technology—it’s an investment in Missouri’s workforce, economy, and future,” Wasinger added. “Missouri’s aerospace workers are the best in the world, and this program will create incredible new opportunities for engineers, machinists, and manufacturers across the state.”
Missouri has long been a national leader in defense and aerospace manufacturing, home to Boeing’s fighter jet production, the Air Force’s B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber, and critical military supply chains. The F-47 contract solidifies Missouri as the nation’s premier hub for next-generation military aviation.
