(JEFFERSON CITY) – Lieutenant Governor Mike Parson has announced his wife Teresa will represent the Office of Lieutenant Governor at the funeral of returning World War II sailor Navy Fireman 1st Class Charles W. Thompson. Fireman Thompson was a native of Weaubleau, Missouri and was stationed on the USS Oklahoma during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
“I am proud Teresa will be representing the Lieutenant Governor’s Office for this solemn service,” said Lieutenant Governor Mike Parson. “Private Thompson’s funeral will be held at 9:00am at the Hathaway-Peterman Chapel in Wheatland, followed by burial at the Fairview Butcher Cemetery in Weaubleau,” Lieutenant Governor Parson said.
“It is truly an extraordinary circumstance to have a World War II soldier returning home after seven decades,” said Teresa Parson. “I am proud to represent the Lieutenant Governor’s Office at Fireman Thompson’s funeral, and help pay tribute to his service. The State of Missouri will always support our service members, and never forget the sacrifices they made for our country,” Mrs. Parson said.
