(JEFFERSON CITY) – Lieutenant Governor Mike Parson released the following statement today in response to the mass shooting at Aztec High School in Aztec, NM.

It is difficult to comprehend the tragedy that took place today at Aztec High School in Aztec, NM. The lives of two students were cut short by this senseless act of violence—students whose families had no idea that this morning would be the last time they would see them alive as they sent them off to school. Fellow classmates and school personnel who witnessed this horrible event must now learn to cope with what they’ve experienced.

My deepest sympathies go out to everyone affected by today’s tragic incident. We should all let this serve as a reminder to always cherish those who are close to us and let them know how much their lives enrich ours.
