(PLEASANT HOPE) – Lieutenant Governor Mike Parson visited area businesses in Polk and Greene Counties on Monday. The Lieutenant Governor visited Pleasant Hope, where he presented the 2017 Corporate Investment & Community Impact (CiCi) Award from Trade and Industry Development Magazine to Moon Ridge Foods. Also present for the event were Missouri Department of Economic Development Acting Director Mike Downing and State Representatives Mike Stephens, Sandy Crawford, and Warren Love. The Lieutenant Governor also visited Fair Haven Children’s Home in Strafford with State Representative Lyndall Fraker to discuss foster care.

“I am very proud of Moon Ridge Foods, and their hard work to receive this award out of hundreds of submissions from across North America,” said Lieutenant Governor Parson. “This facility has only been open for nine months, but its impact on the community of Pleasant Hope has been tremendous with over 238 new jobs and a 400% increase in sales tax revenue. This facility represents the future of food production, and we are pleased to see Moon Ridge Foods is dedicated to supporting local farmers and helping its community prosper,” Parson said.

“At its heart, Missouri is an agricultural state and Moon Ridge Foods exemplifies the high quality food products made right here in the Show-Me State,” said Acting Director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development Mike Downing. “I am pleased Moon Ridge Foods has been honored with the 2017 Corporate Investment & Community Impact Award. We knew their expansion in Pleasant Hope would make a huge impact in this community and the surrounding rural area, as they continue to create new jobs,” Downing said.
