(JEFFERSON CITY) – Lieutenant Governor Mike Parson has strongly condemned the white supremacist violence which occurred over this past weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia. At least three people were killed in two separate incidents, including two Virginia State Troopers and at least 34 people were wounded.
“While we as Americans have the right to assemble and protest, we do not have the right to escalate those demonstrations into violence. These acts of hatred have no place in American society today,” said Lieutenant Governor Mike Parson. “These criminals and thugs do not represent America, and I strongly condemn their actions in Charlottesville. Americans and Missourians must be vigilant for hatred and bigotry, and do all we can to ensure no citizen of our country is discriminated against,” Lieutenant Governor Parson said.
