(Kansas City, MO) – On January 5, Lieutenant Governor Mike Parson provided the opening remarks at the opening session of the 2018 Legislative Agriculture Chairs Summit. Participants from approximately 47 states and 8 Canadian provinces were represented. The State Agriculture and Rural Leaders (SARL) Legislative Agriculture Chairs Summit is the only national legislative meeting which focuses on rural issues.
The SARL Legislative Agriculture Chairs Summit has been providing an unparalleled non-partisan educational opportunity for elected state and provincial officials since 2001. Their focused interest is on agriculture and rural communities working together to network, collaborate and create problem solving partnerships.
“It was a great honor to be invited to provide the opening remarks for such a remarkable event and group of people,” Lieutenant Governor Parson said. “Agriculture is important to me, to Missouri, and to the United States. We must continue to support, educate, and inspire today’s farmers and the next generation of farmers. We have to leave agriculture in better shape than we found it, and give the next generation the same opportunities we have been given,” Parson said.
Parson was sworn in as Missouri’s 47th Lieutenant Governor on January 9, 2017. The Lieutenant Governor is the second highest constitutional office in Missouri, with both executive and legislative responsibilities.
