Additionally, the official Drought Declaration is based upon the analysis of drought conditions through the U.S. Drought Monitor, which is published weekly and is based upon both objective rainfall and climate conditions and subjective information submitted by residents.  To be included in the Drought Declaration, a county must be in drought condition of D2-Severe Drought or greater. The Drought Declaration is written in such a way that once a county obtains that condition, they are automatically included in the Declaration.
