Lt. Governor Peter Kinder names Mary Brown of Grandview as Senior Service Award Winner

Award recognizes volunteer work by Missouri Seniors

GRANDVIEW – Missouri Lt. Governor Peter Kinder today (June 27) presented Mary Brown of Granview with the Lieutenant Governor’s Senior Service Award. She was one of 34 winners of the 2012 award.

Lt. Governor Kinder presented the award at the Life Care Center of Grandview.

Brown has volunteered for years at the Life Care Center, Disabled American Veterans and the Harvesters Food Pantry. At the Life Care Center, she helps organize food stock, prepares food and helps with activities and appointments for residents. She also helps prepare and serve food at the Harvesters Food Pantry.

"Mary Brown provides tireless service to her community through her work at the Life Care Center and Harvesters Food Pantry and through her work with disabled veterans," Kinder said. "She sets an example for all Missourians with her willingness to serve her community, and that service is an inspiration to all who know her."

Due to a record number of nominations, Kinder this year expanded the awards, naming 34 winners, representing the state's 34 Senatorial Districts. Brown won the award for the 10th District.
