Lt. Governor Peter Kinder Signs SB 396 to Protect Funding for Cape Girardeau Airport
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO — Missouri Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder signed into law Senate Bill 396, an act to extend the transfer of jet fuel sales tax revenue into the State Aviation Trust Fund. A Cape Girardeau native, Lt. Gov. Kinder signed the bill at the Cape Girardeau Airport Terminal with Cape Girardeau Mayor Jay Knudtson, Jackson Mayor Paul Sander, area chamber of commerce members and the airport advisory board on hand for the ceremony.
“I am pleased to sign this legislation into law. Sen. Jason Crowell, who sponsored the bill, and I are strong supporters of the continuing growth of the Cape Girardeau Airport,” said Kinder. He added, “This legislation helps to protect the State Aviation Trust Fund which assists many airports across Missouri.”
SB 396 extends the dates from December 31, 2008 to December 31, 2013, that fuel taxes will continue to be deposited in the State Aviation Trust Fund. It also increases the amount that certain airports can receive for air traffic control towers from $125,000 to $167,000 per year.
